Hello, thanks for stopping by!
My name is Nikoline Porse. I am finishing up my fourth year at the University of Oregon, which is a bittersweet moment. I will be earning a Bachelor of Science degree in public relations with concentrations in philosophy and sociology. During my first two years at the U of O, I was ‘undecided.’ However, I noticed how I kept coming back to take more journalism classes. I found myself engulfed with journalistic materials and lessons. The art of storytelling compelled me. Seeing how beautifully articulate writing professionals are motivated me to become a better writer. Words are a detrimental tool to improve images and demonstrate points. It has been a long journey to learn what it takes to be a professional communicator. I may not be a professional yet, but I can apply my knowledge to build my future career.
My Values
- Transparency: Being honest is a crucial trait in PR. Acts of deceit may come with irreparable consequences. Nobody is perfect– I am unapologetically myself and own up to my mistakes.
- Positivity: I strive to uplift others by my attitude and mindset. No one likes a fretful, negative person. Being positive means enduring any situation, especially the negative ones. It allows having a meaningful perspective.
- Awareness: How do I grow if I am not receptive to critique? Awareness is key to personal and professional growth. Being consciously aware enables me to adapt to different environments.
Aspirations
My plans are yet to be definitive after graduation. My future might look a bit hazy now, but I know my four-year writing experience at the U of O will contribute to my future success. My courses at the School of Journalism and Communications will always be relevant and salient. I have confidently established a foundation for my writing. From here, I can only improve and focus on my writing skills. Even if I do not end up somewhere in the PR world, my writing will positively affect my professionalism.
