Depop Shops You Should Keep on Your Radar.

What is Depop, and what’s so special about it?

Depop is an e-commerce platform based in London. Simon Beckerman founded Depop in 2011, after running a social network called PIG. This network was like an online magazine. However, people were able to purchase items featured in PIG. Beckerman realized that people needed a marketplace app where people could buy and sell fashion merchandise in an efficient manner. Now, users from all over the world are able to connect with one another via shopping. This platform is especially purposeful to small businesses. These shops are able to receive exposure and recognition. Depop encourages its marketplace to be filled with diverse style and creativity. Its vision is split into four sectors: governance, planet, people, and platform. If you are passionate about supporting small businesses, please keep reading (this one’s for you).

Depop’s Role in Sustainability

I never thought to question Depop’s role in sustainability, but here are some logistics that I have found. Back in 2019, Beckerman told The Challenger Project, “I think sustainability is not a ‘plus’ anymore — it needs to be factored into everything you do. We are heading towards dangerous times, as we’ve been seeing in the news, and so if you’re not sustainable, you’re not going anywhere. We wouldn’t use it as a marketing tool either. It’s just a necessity.” A year later, Depop launched a climate-neutral goal that has been achieved towards the latter part of 2021. By partnering with South Pole, a climate solutions provider, Depop was able to successfully attempt to neutralize its shipping emissions.

My Take on Depop:

Because of Depop’s vast community, I know I am not the only one susceptible to losing time to this app. I have endured the wormhole (plentiful) to save you time. As a not-so-tech-savvy person, the feasibility of its features is what I like best about Depop. You can look up any piece of clothing on your mind– then BAM! – results are instantly found. For example, searching “Harley Davidson Jacket” will give you the results you need and the results you didn’t think you needed to help you find the perfect fashion piece!

Here is my curated list of Depop shops that sell cool, never before seen fashion pieces:

@alicefletchdf

This London-based Depop store sells darling vintage pieces, as well as merchandise that Alice designs. This vendor also offers styling and rentals, upon request.

@fullmoongurl

If you want to relive your Y2K days, this is the Depop store for you. Unlike a lot of other vendors, there is a lot of clothes that is still for sale– reasonably priced as well!

@leopora

This vendor really knows how to display its thrifting scores. This page has an amazing assortment of boots. Not to mention, the aesthetic of this page inspires me to be more punk/rock with my style.

@maybenvr

Beepy Bella is the shop that made crafty beaded bracelets fashionable. Its products are so beautiful, but incredibly expensive. This Depop shop is a great alternative for those who want to purchase pretty beaded jewelry, but without the consequence of going broke.

@relating

I find this store distinctive because of the surplus of Emilio Pucci this vendor is selling. If you are looking for old (but still relevant) designer pieces, this is a shop for you!

@revivaleravintage

Located in sunny San Diego, this Depop shop is a mixture of a Y2K dream and rare vintage pieces. This shop also sells its pieces at Day to Day Vintage in North Park, SD. (3063 University Ave, San Diego, CA).
