Fab Now, Drab Later…

Trends are fluid– it refers to a particular style that is popular at a given moment. In 2014, the 60s made a comeback with flower crowns. I’m sure now we have flower crowns somewhere in our rooms– serving the sole purpose of taking up space. Currently, we are seeing a comeback of Y2K fashion (2000s fashion). How long will this trend last before we move on to the next? I am here to predict some of this year’s biggest fashion trends that will most likely take a tumble. These are the clothes that you will look back on and say, “How was this even a trend!?” It serves as a reminder to not fall under the spell of trends. Trends are mobile, not sustainable.

*A reminder: If you like something that I ridicule, please don’t get offended. These are my opinions. Also, I am not Anna Wintour.

Drumroll please! These are some popular styles that I personally predict will die within 2022:

MESH TOPS ( ESPECIALLY WITH A CONTRAST STITCH)

When particular styles hit Shein, Fashion Nova or any retail giant known to be obviously unsustainable, you know the trend is already coming to an end. The contrast gives the same essence as a patchwork. Considering the demise of patchwork jeans, these have a definite due date.

PSYCHEDELIC, GROOVE + CHECKERED PRINTS

This one might be too obvious. Many fashion outlets are selling A LOT of these prints. With an abundance of this type of style, it is bound to burn out at some point. Not to mention, these prints are not very versatile with other existing pieces you may have in your closet.

CORSETS

OK- Not going to lie, it was a little painful to put this one on the list. As much as I love corsets now, I do not think they will last. With some of the styling tutorials I have seen on TikTok, corsets are not styled in its usual timeless, glamorous way. In a stylized way, corsets are bound to have its end.

BABY TEES– TO THE EXTREME

This trend is catered to a certain body type. It doesn’t seem like it will last because of its aspect of exclusivity.

CHUNKY BOOTS WITH LUGGED SOLE

I see lots of influencers wearing these types of shoes, especially the Prada boots down below. It could be a personal opinion, but it just overcomplicates the original platform boot.

BAGUETTE HANDBAGS

This one gives me the same vibe as tiny sunglasses. Baguette bags are small, and you can’t put a whole lot of items into it. This style of bag may have a comeback in the mere future, but for now, it is overdone. Onto the next!
